Solution

Saturday January 11, 2025

6 days from today is 11 Jan 2025, a Saturday. Calculating a small date like 6 days in the future is usually simple. Anything under a week can usually be done on one hand. Since today is Sunday, the calculation could get a bit more complicated if you want to account for business days becuase it's the weekend.. I usually just count days of the week. Additionally, we’re 26 days from the end of January, so being in the early part of of the month, 6 days will remain in January and we don’t need to worry about adjusting months or years..

How we calculated 6 days from today

All of our day calculators are measured and QA'd by our engineer. Read more about the Git process here. But here's how adding 6 days to today's date gets calculated on each visit:

  • Started with date inputs: starting point: 05 Jan, Units to add: 6 days, and year: 2025
  • Noted your current time of year: 26 days in early part of January
  • Added 6 days from current day: 05 Jan, factoring in there are 26 days left in before February
  • Did NOT factor in workdays: In this calculation, we kept weekend. See below for just workdays or the 2025 fiscal calendar.

Ways to calculate 6 days from today

  1. Just calculate it: Start with a time from today calculator. 6 days is easiest solved on a calculator. For ours, we've already factored in the days in + all number of days in each month and the number of days in 2025. Simply add your days and choose the length of time, then click "calculate". This calculation does not factor in workdays or holidays (see below!).
  2. Use January's calendar: Begin by identifying on a calendar, note that it’s Saturday, and the total days in February (trust me, you’ll need this for smaller calculations) and days until next year (double trust me, you'll need this for larger calculations). From there, count forward 6 times by days, adding days from 05 Jan.
  3. Use Excel: Regardless of unit type, I use day calculations here. Type =TODAY()+6 into the cell. If you want to add weeks, multiply your day by 7 and months/years will take their own calculation due to the changing days of the week. To find 6 days workdays, convert to days but use =WORKDAY(TODAY(), [number of days], [holidays]) into the cell. [number of days] is how many working days you want to add, and [holidays] is an optional range of cells that contain dates of holidays to exclude.

6 working days from today

6 days is Saturday January 11, 2025 or could be Monday January 13, 2025 if you only want workdays. This calculation takes 6 days and only adds by the number of workdays in a week. Remember, removing the weekend from our calculation will drastically change our original Saturday January 11, 2025 date.
