What was the date 100 months ago?

Solution

Thursday July 21, 2016

100 months before today was 21 Jul 2016, a Thursday. Subtracting 100 months in the past is usually just counting from November; however, longer calculations will push us from 2024 into 2023 or further. Even if the calculation remains within the year, I usually take note of the 21 days left in the end of November to prep for an additional calculation before October. But that’s all there is to it - understand the month, if 100 months will change the year, season, or fiscal calendar, and subtract your dates.

How we calculated 100 months before today

All of our day calculators are measured and QA'd by our engineer. Read more about the Git process here. But here's how 100 months ago gets calculated on each visit:

  1. We started with date inputs: used current day of 21 Nov, then set the calculation - 100 months, and factored in the year 2024
  2. Noted your current time of year: 100 months in November will bring us back to October or further.
  3. Counted backwards months from current day: date - 21 Nov, factoring in the 21 days left in November to calculate Thursday July 21, 2016
  4. Did NOT factor in workdays: In this calculation, we kept weekend. See below for just workdays or the fiscal calendar

Tips when solving for July 21

  • Current date: 21 Nov
  • Day of the week: Thursday
  • New Date: Thursday July 21, 2016
  • New Date Day of the week: Thursday
  • July is one of the highest vacation months, so prepare for more OOO messages.
  • This calculation crosses at least one month. Remeber, this will change our day of the week.
  • The solution crosses into a different year.

Ways to calculate 100 months ago

  1. Calculate it: Start with a time ago calculator. 100 months is easiest solved on a calculator. For ours, we've already factored in the 21 days in November + all number of days in each month and the number of days in . Simply add your months and choose the length of time, then click "calculate". This calculation does not factor in workdays or holidays (see below!).
  2. Use November's calendar: Begin by identifying 21 Nov on a calendar, note that it’s Thursday, and the total days in October (trust me, you’ll need this for smaller calculations) and days until last year (double trust me, you'll need this for larger calculations). From there, count backwards 100 times months by months, subtracting months from until your remainder of months is 0.
  3. Use excel: For more complex months calculations or if you h8 our site (kidding), I use Excel functions like =TODAY()-100 to get or =WORKDAY(TODAY()), -100, cell:cell) for working months.

Working months in 100 calendar months

100 months is Thursday July 21, 2016 or could be if you only want workdays. This calculation takes 100 months and only subtracts by the number of workdays in a week. Remember, removing the weekend from our calculation will drastically change our original Thursday July 21, 2016 date.
