Date Range: 1 month

1 month before today was 28 Feb 2025, a Friday. Subtracting 1 months in the past is usually just counting from March; however, longer calculations will push us from 2025 into 2024 or further. Even if the calculation remains within the year, I usually take note of the 29 days left in the end of March to prep for an additional calculation before February. But that’s all there is to it - understand the month, if 1 months will change the year, season, or fiscal calendar, and subtract your dates.

  1. We started with date inputs: used current day of 29 Mar, then set the calculation - 1 month, and factored in the year 2025
  2. Noted your current time of year: 1 month in March will keep us in March and we don’t need to worry about adjusting months or years.
  3. Counted backwards month from current day: date - 29 Mar, factoring in the 29 days left in March to calculate Friday February 28, 2025
  4. Did NOT factor in workdays: In this calculation, we kept weekend. See below for just workdays or the fiscal calendar

From there, count backwards 1 times month by month, subtracting month from until your remainder of month is 0.
  3. Use excel: For more complex month calculations or if you h8 our site (kidding), I use Excel functions like =TODAY()-1 to get or =WORKDAY(TODAY()), -1, cell:cell) for working month.
